Maria Bogert Pruyn

Maria Bogert was born in June 1681. She was the daughter of Jacob C. and Jannetje Quackenbush Bogert. She grew up a member of a large family in a house on Market Street that in 1697 still included seven children.

In February 1704, Maria married Samuel Pruyn at her father's house. By 1723, five children had been christened at the Albany Dutch church where both parents were frequent baptism sponsors.

These Pruyns lived on Maiden Lane where Samuel had a smithy and served as alderman from 1729 to 1732.

Samuel Pruyn filed a will in March 1752. It named Maria and three sons as heirs to his house in the second ward and personal property. He died in June.

Maria Bogert Pruyn may have lived with one of her sons and died sometime afterward.
