Maria Bogert Verplanck

We allow that Maria Bogert could have been born in August 1732. Thus, she would have been one of the seven daughters of the marriage of Benjamin and Anna Hallenbeck Bogert. She then would have grown up in a large family in the first ward home of an Albany carpenter.

In August 1761, she was identified as an Albany spinster when she married the somewhat younger Albany cooper Abraham Verplanck at the Albany Dutch church. By 1768, two children had been christened at the church where she was a member and pewholder.

However, the marriage was not a long one as Maria Bogert Verplanck was dead by July 1772 when Abraham Verplanck re-married. We seek more definitive information on her passing. She had lived but forty years.
