Barent Egbertse was born in May 1684. He was the son of Albany residents Egbert Teunise Egbertse and his wife, Maria Bradt Egberts. He grew up in a large family in a merchant's home in the third ward. However, he was not named in the lwill filed by his father in 1704.
In August 1704, he married Albany resident Maria De Garmo at the Albany Dutch church. She died in January 1725 after giving birth to their sixth child. In June 1727, he married widow Elsie Van Loon La Grange. He was an occasional baptism sponsor at the Albany Dutch church where his family received spiritual services.
His modest Albany home was located in the first ward. He served in the militia, as firemaster, constable, and then as high constable for the first ward. His name appeared on a list of Albany freeholders in 1720.
Barent Egbertse buried his second wife in 1742. He died in November 1752.
