Thomas Janse Mingael

by

According to traditional sources, Thomas Janse Mingael was born in Europe during the first part of the seventeenth century. He was the son of Jan Thomase and Jannetie Martens Mingael.

He emigrated to New Netherland, married Maria Abrahams (Vosburgh), and settled in Beverwyck. The marriage produced several children who raised families in the Albany area.

He was said to have been a carpenter and householder who appeared before the Beverwyck court during the 1650s in different capacities.

Thomas Janse Mingael died in 1662. A year later, his widow married Evert Janse Wendell.
