Hannah Slingerland Evertsen

Hannah Slingerland probably was born during the 1760s. At this point, we resist connecting her to Albany-area Slingerland families.

About 1788, she married cordwainer Jacob Evertsen. Between 1789 and 1807, five children were christened at the Albany Dutch church.

For several decades, these Evertsens lived at 22 Fox Street with Jacob's name being italcized in the city directory in 1815 and 1816 - at the time, a designation identifying a "free person of color." Jacob died in 1829 and was buried in the Dutch church plot.

We seek defining information on Hannah Slingerland Evertsen's later life and passing.
