Cornelia Schermerhorn was born about 1675. She was the daughter of New Netherland pioneers Jacob Janse and Jannetie Van Voorhout Schermerhorn. In May 1688, she was identified as an heir in the will filed by her parents.
These Ten Eycks shared a home on Pearl Street with Barent's brother, Hendrick. The Ten Eyck brothers were fur traders and active in local affairs. Although blessed with a large family over the first decade of marriage, Cornelia soon suffered an irreparable loss with the death of her husband in 1711 at the age of thirty-one!
The name of Cornelia Schermerhorn Ten Eyck dropped from Albany rolls after she witnessed a baptism in April 1718.
