Dirck Swartby
Dirck Swart probably was born during the 1730s and was the son of Teunis Swart of Schenectady. In July 1758, he married Jannetje Vanderzee in the Albany Dutch church. Their son was christened in Albany in 1760. In early 1766, he joined with a number of Albany men to sign a constitution of the Albany Sons of Liberty. In 1766 and 1767, his house and lot were valued on an assessment roll for that part of Rensselaerswyck located near the Van Rensselaer Manor House. Was this individual the same person who served in the Revolutionary army, owned a tavern in Stillwater, sat in the New York State Assembly (1780-85), and/or was Saratoga County clerk thru the end of the eighteenth century?
