Pieter P. Schuyler
Pieter P. Schuyler was born in February 1723. He was the first son born to the marriage of Pieter Schuyler, Jr. and Catharina Groesbeck Schuyler. He grew up in a large family in a prominent trader's home in the third ward and at the family farm located on the Flats north of Albany.
About 1745, he married Geertruy Schuyler - his cousin and the sister of the future General Philip Schuyler. By 1749, three children had been christened at the Dutch churches in Albany and New York. A son and a daughter would live to raise their own families.
These Schuylers probably set up their home at Schuyler Flats as this Pieter seems to have maintained a low profile during his short adult life.
Pieter P. Schuyler died in September 1753 and was buried at the Flats. He had lived but thirty years. His widow re-married in 1760 and survived until 1813.
