Hester Winne Van Zandt
These Van Zandts lived on the Southside of Albany while Gerrit owned and traded real estate in and beyond Albany. He owned a mill on the Onesquethaw Creek. Perhaps they lived there as well. By 1800, however, Hester and Gerrit were alone in their first ward home and were served by four slaves.
Gerrit Van Zandt filed a will in 1806. It provided for Hester and apportioned his extensive holdings to their daughter, grandchildren, and beyond. Hester Winne Van Zandt died sometime afterwards.
Sources: The life of Hester Winne Van Zandt is CAP biography number 2930. This sketch is derived chiefly from family and community-based resources.
