From the North:
Take the Northway (I-87) South to Exit 7 (Route 7 East). At the first exit, connect with I-787 South to Albany. Proceed as below.

From the South:
Take the New York State Thruway to Exit 23. Take I-787 North. Proceed as below.

From the East:
Take I-90 West to Albany. Route 90 intersects with I-787 at Albany. Take I-787 South. Proceed as below.

From the West:
Take the New York State Thruway to Exit 23. Take I-787 North. Proceed as below.

From I-787 take the exit for Routes 9 and 20/Rensselaer Train Station. As you cross the river, bear to the left to continue on Routes 9 (south) and 20 (east) - do not exit to the right for the train station. Continue through 3 traffic lights and take a right onto Route 9J (south toward Castleton). At this point there will be signs for Papscanee Island Nature Preserve. Go straight through the next traffic light and continue for 4.1 miles to the park entrance road (Staats Island Road). Take a right onto this road and follow the signs directing you to the base camp parking area.

Be careful when crossing the railroad tracks on Staats Island Road, it is for high speed Amtrak trains.
