Subject: New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Grants Available for the Eradication of Invasive Species

Purpose
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) will provide State assistance funding through reimbursement for projects to eradicate aquatic and terrestrial species identified as being invasive within the boundaries of New York State. Acceptable projects are proposals to kill and/or permanently remove plants or animals that meet the definition of terrestrial invasive species. A list of species is included in the grant application and instructions.
Amount of Available Funding and Source of Funds
DEC anticipates that up to $1 million will be available for grants under this program. Grant funds are provided by the State Environmental Protection Fund.
Applicant Eligibility and Geographic Boundary for Projects
The applicant must be a New York State agency, municipality or a not-for-profit corporation. Projects must occur within the boundaries of the State of New York.
Matching Funds Requirement
All grants require non-federal matching funds of 50%.
Application Due Date
Applications must be postmarked by 6/29/2007. Hand delivered, emailed, or faxed applications will not be accepted.
