Our goal is to give you an enjoyable visit to the New York State Museum. In order to help us achieve our goal, we'd like to give you some information that will assist you in planning for your visit.

- Reservations are required for all groups which plan to use Museum Education Office resources (instructor-guided programming, lunchroom facilities, parking passes, etc.).
- Reserve spaces for the maximum possible number of students and adults in your group.
- Select three possible dates for your visit (in order of preference). Spaces are limited and are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Lunch room space is limited. Reservations are required and lunch times are assigned on the basis of seating availability.
- Indicate the number of buses you will use to transport students so that we can notify OGS parking services. Cars will be directed to pay lots upon arrival as we cannot offer free parking for cars/vans.
Museum Hours - 10a.m. - 5 p.m.
- Self-guided groups may begin their visits at 10am.
- Instructor-guided groups may begin their programs at 10am, if available.
- Groups should plan to be in the museum fifteen minutes before their instructor guided program begins. Only registered groups will receive instructor guided programs.

- The MAIN entrance to the New York State Museum is on Madison Avenue between South Swan Street and Eagle Street, directly across from Empire State Plaza in Albany, New York.
- The GROUP entrance to the New York State Museum is on Park Avenue between South Swan and Eagle Streets, directly across from Lincoln Park. School bus and car and van loading/unloading takes place through the group entrance. After unloading, bus drivers will be directed to a free parking area. Cars and vans will be directed to pay lots
Behavior Guidelines
- One adult must accompany each group of ten children (there is a one to five ratio for visits to the Great Art Exhibit). ALL STUDENTS MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT CHAPERONE AT ALL TIMES.
- No running, smoking, eating or drinking in the museum.
- Be courteous to other visitors.
- No abusive language or gestures.
- Groups failing to observe these guidelines will be asked to leave the museum.

For your convenience you can register on-line or you can print a copy of the Museum's Group Registration Form (8kb in PDF format), complete the form, and mail it to:

Confirming Your Reservation
- E-mail confirmation of your reservation will be sent within 2 weeks of our receiving your registration information.
- Please check this information carefully and call immediately to correct any inaccuracies (518)-474-5483).
- If you do not have an email address your confirmation(s) will be faxed or sent via regular mail
Rescheduling/Canceling Your Reservation

hours in advance to reschedule or cancel your reservation.
Meal Options
- Bring your own bag lunch
Limited indoor seating is available in the Museum's Student Center, Monday through Friday, by reservation only. Spring, Summer and early Fall are beautiful in Albany and many people enjoy eating lunch on Empire State Plaza, just across from the State Capitol. Bag lunches can be temporarily stored indoors when group lunches are boxed or contained and marked with your school or group's name. - Lunch at the Food Court
On the Concourse Level of the Empire State Plaza there are a number of interesting food choices including McDonalds. No prior notice to the Museum is required.
