Focus on Nature XIV will run from December 3, 2016 through April 9, 2017 at the Roger Tory Peterson Institute (RTPI) in Jamestown, New York. We are very excited and honored to collaborate with this institute that is dedicated to continuing the tradition of natural history illustration. The RTPI mission is to “honor and continue … to foster understanding, appreciation and protection for the natural world”. RTPI is a beautiful facility with exhibition space of high standard. Each Focus on Nature jury includes guest jurors that include at least one artist who has participated the most often in previous exhibitions, and usually a guest scientist. The FON XIV guest artist will be Bobbi Angell. She has exhibited twelve artworks since the start of FON and donated two to the NYSM Illustration Collection.

The guest scientist for FON XIV is Twan Leenders, a biologist originally from The Netherlands who is interested in animal ecology and conservation management. As President of the Roger Tory Peterson Institute, he applies his extensive international field experience to our region and develops new conservation research and education initiatives that aim to spark increased interest in the area’s exceptional natural assets while providing economic incentives to promote good environmental stewardship.
