Singer detail one

The Wolf Clan Singer stands 22 inches tall. A "Clan" is a family whose ancestry is passed down through the mother. Clans are named after animals of the water, land and sky. These include: Turtle, Eel Beaver, Bear, Deer, Wolf, Snipe, Heron, and Hawk. Peter's sculpture depicts a person in a wolf headdress holding a gourd rattle in one hand and dance feathers in the other. "I usually start a sculpture with the face and whatever the face suggests decides what the rest of the piece will be...the works simply evolve." To see an example of a gourd rattle and of dance feathers, see artist Larry Jacobs' work on this site.
