Past Exhibitions

What began 21 years ago as an exhibition of 24 New York state artists now includes up to 100 pieces of art by 65 to 85 illustrators. Entries come from all over the world, a testament to the continued widespread interest in the representation of natural history subjects. The Focus on Nature exhibits V thru X have catalogs published in association with the exhibition, with a rudimentary catalog for FON II. Because most of natural history illustration is used in collaboration with written text, it seems appropriate that there be written material to accompany the artwork. The catalogs also serve to record the status of illustration as it develops and adapts to the needs of science and technology.
