Mammals Revealed - Discovery and Documentation of Secretive Creatures

Cave Bat Enlargements

The detail of a bat’s face and ears affect its echolocation system—the bat's supersonic navigation system. These cute faces also allow mammalogists to tell bats apart as they observe them hanging from caves, or pull them from mist nets. Artist Wendy Smith painted this double plate to allow an easy comparison of bat faces.
