Donors don’t give to institutions. They invest in ideas and people in whom they believe. — G.T. Smith

Since the decades preceding the founding of the New York State Museum in 1836, private donors have been investing in the world-class research, collections, curators, scientists and educators that are the lifeblood of the institution. The legacy of their investment is the oldest and largest state museum in the nation—the continuously evolving steward of New York’s natural, cultural and human history.

Investing in the New York State Museum
Investing in the New York State Museum helps us do what we do best! Our signature Bank of America Great Art Series and Family Fun Weekends, Presented by Fidelis Care New York, provide rich learning experiences for visitors of all ages. Investing in the Museum provides a platform for teenagers from Albany’s urban neighborhoods to succeed academically and advance to college. Museum investors enable our educators to develop engaging programs that enhance permanent exhibits on the native peoples of New York, the Harlem Renaissance of the 1920s and life in the Adirondacks. In all, investors help make the State Museum the most visited cultural attraction in the Empire State, outside of New York City.
Return on Investment: Sponsorship Benefits
The Museum understands the value of recognition for your company and brand. Our benefits program guarantees both short- and long-term visibility and exposure to nearly 10 million annual visitors to the Museum’s website. As an investor, you gain the opportunity to generate market share while demonstrating your corporate citizenship to the residents of the Capital Region and beyond. Partnering with the Museum provides your business with the value-added marketing advantage of our regional and statewide reach. More than half of our visitors reside in the upstate area. In 2006 the Museum welcomed approximately 800,000 visitors, exceeding the total combined annual visitation of all cultural institutions in the Capital Region.
