To highlight National Earth Science Week (http://www.earthsciweek.org/), NYSGS is celebrating over 175 years of service with an open house. Since 1836, the NYSGS has served as a center for geologic research for the Empire State. Geologists will present their research, discuss current projects and exhibits and answer questions. Bedrock cores, fossils and maps will be on display. Limited tours of the mineral collections will also be available.

This event is being held in conjunction with the New York Counsel of Professional Geologists (NYCPG), the Northeast chapter of the American Institute of Professional Geologists (NEAIPG) and the Hudson Mohawk Professional Geologist Association (HMPGA).

Groups larger than 10 people are encouraged to pre-register. Please call 518.474.0575 or email nlafount@mail.nysed.gov.
