The Mineral Sciences group from the New York State Museum maintains an active acquisition program with the goal of constantly upgrading and expanding the mineral collection through donations, purchases and field collecting. Recently, Dr. Steven Chamberlain and the Academy of Mineralogy donated a suite of minerals from central New York and St. Lawrence County. The most spectacular specimens are now on display in the "Recent Acquisitions" case of the "Minerals of New York" gallery in Adirondack Hall.
