STATEMAP PROGRAM Quadrangles that have been mapped recently under the auspices of the StateMap program are show on this map: [Click to Enlarge] The New York State Geological Survey and other agencies have been producing bedrock maps of the State since the late nineteenth century. The status of bedrock mapping in New York is described in New York State Museum Circular 67, Bedrock Mapping in New York State by J. Skiba and J. Manchester in 2004. In 2008, the NYSGS joined the Great Lakes Geological Mapping Coalition (http://igs.indiana.edu/GreatLakesGeology/index.html) and will use funds from that organization and the USGS to address land use, water resource and environmental issues in those portions of the Great Lakes basins that are in New York State.
