MEDINA SANDSTONES
The Medina Group is made up of Lower Silurian aged sandstones located in western New York. The production from these units is termed a "tight gas" play beacuse these low porosity and permeability reservoirs must be hyrdraulically fractured in order for gas to flow at economic rates. There are over 5,000 Medina wells in New York which produce approximately 15% of the state's annual gas production.
