Paleontology

Recent studies by the paleontology staff include sequence stratigraphy and faunas (conodonts, trilobites) of the upper Lower Ordovician in eastern New York and adjacent Vermont; Upper Ordovician litho- and biofacies of a giant melange block in the Taconic foreland basin; eustatic vs. epeirogenic controls on Early-Middle Cambrian boundary interval deposition in Morocco and Iberia; and a regional synthesis of the Cambrian of southern Morocco.

NYSGS staff led the 12th International Symposium of the Cambrian Subcommission in 2007. The State Paleontologist curates the Museum Paleontology Collection, and is U.S. voting member on the Cambrian Subcommission and GSA representative on the North American Stratigraphic Commission
