Ashley Hopkins-Benton, Senior Historian and Curator, will present a brief 20 minute tour on the Henry DiSpirito sculpture Torso. DiSpirito emigrated from Italy in 1921, he settled in Utica, NY with the skills and work ethic to succeed as a stonemason, and the desire and talent to become an artist. His work straddled his two fields, as he found his calling chiseling animal forms out of field stone. Learn about DiSpirito’s arrival in New York, his training as a sculptor, and his work Torso, on view in New York Hall.
