Walk down the aisle of history with Collections Technician, Connie Frisbee Houde, and gain a peek into the closets of the New York State Museum’s clothing collection. Recent acquisitions include a large collection of wedding dresses with known provenance. These dresses reveal changes in both fashion and the ritual of wedding garments. This talk will examine changes made in a selection of garments and the social structure that affected some of the more outward physical changes. The wedding dress is an expression of the bride-to-be’s identity and can represent her place in society, her hopes, and her dreams.

Program includes a 20 minute talk and Connie will be happy to answer questions following the presentation. Participants are welcomed to bring their lunches.
