Celebrate the holiday season at the New York State Museum’s 6th Annual Taste NY Holiday Market! Stroll through the halls of the Museum while shopping and sampling made-in-New York food and beverages from dozens of vendors, including hand-crafted beer, wine and spirits, cheese, chocolate, apple and maple products, and other edible goodies.           

Living historians in period attire will share recipes from the past and visitors will learn something new during a fun cooking demonstration. Chocolate dipping fountain compliments of Price Chopper and We Do Fondue.

The 2nd Albany County Militia Regiment will invite visitors to participate in demonstrations of colonial activities that depict 18th century cooking and beer making practices. 

Culinary historian Lavada Nahon will showcase colonial cooking depicting 17th, 18th, and 19th century culinary skills. A display table with reproduction cooking and dining equipage, recipe books, and simple kitchen tools will allow visitors to learn about the development of New York State’s rich culinary legacy.

Culinary historian Paul Supley will teach the process of making 18th century drinking chocolate! Learn about the use of chocolate in New York State during the colonial period with photographs, historical artifacts, and reproductions. A chocolate demonstration will explain the history behind the beverage and its connection with New York’s history.

The holidays are a great reason to make soups and sauces from a variety of broths and stocks. Chef Lapi will talk about the importance of home-made bone broth and stocks.
