Thomas Cole: Adirondack Painter?

12:10 PM –12:30 PM (followed by brief Q & A period)
Huxley Theater
Free

Thomas Cole is closely associated with the Catskills, and consequently few art historians have considered his four known journeys northward toward the headwaters of the Hudson River and into the depths of the Adirondack wilderness. History Research fellow Matthew DeLaMater contexts Cole’s neglected Adirondack work, sharing images of his sketches and paintings from these important adventures, beginning with his 1826 trip to Lake George that resulted in his Ticonderoga and  Last of the Mohican paintings.

Program includes a 20 minute talk and Matt will be happy to answer questions following the presentation. Participants are welcomed to bring their lunches.
