The New York State Museum has evolved and changed many times over its 183-year history. It has played a role in educating and entertaining millions of New Yorkers and its schoolchildren. For more than 60 years of its history the Museum was housed on the fifth floor of the State Education Building and looms large in the memories of those who visited there. Join History Technician Kara Chambers as she covers major milestones in the history of the State Museum and how its changing goals were reflected by its exhibits and how the Museum fits into the development of museums overall.
This program includes a 20-minute talk followed by brief Q&A. Participants are welcomed to bring their lunches.
