Research & Collections :: Collections at the State Museum :: Biology
This collection is administratively under the care of the Director of Research and Collections because there is currently no Curator of Molluscs on staff. As a collection with no curator, specimens will not be loaned and there are no identification services provided. If researchers need to examine specimens in this collection, arrangements can be made to visit the collection by contacting the Director of Research and Collections. The collection consists of large series of freshwater gastropods and bivalves in addition to the Blinn Collection of marine shells. Recent acquisition of the Cornell University collection of central New York aquatic molluscs has given the Museum's malacological holdings increased depth and importance.
