Will of Margarita Van Valkenburgh - 1778
In the Name of God Amen, I Margaret Van Valkenburgh, Widow of Jacobus Van Valkenburgh late of the City of Albany Carpenter, considering the uncertainty of the Life, the Certainty of Death & the uncertainty of the time, do therefore make this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following (I being by God's Grace of sound and disposing mind and memory blessed be almighty God for the same).
First I give & bequeath unto my son Isaac Van Valkenburgh the sum of five pounds current money of New York in right of his primogenature, and as a Barr to his pretention of being my Heir at Law.
I will that all my Just Debts & funeral Charges shall be paid out of my Estate at a convenient time after my death by my executors hereinafter Named,
I give devise & bequeath unto all my Children & Grand Children, to wit unto my Son Isaac Van Valkenburgh, Lidia - the Wife of James Bloodgood, Rachel - the Wife of Hugh Denniston, the Children of my deceased Son John Van Valkenburgh, Margaret the Wife of John Taylor, Elizabeth the Wife of Abraham Bloodgood, and the Children of my deceased Daughter Eve, the late Wife of John Vernor: the whole to be divided in Seven equal Parts, the Children of my respective Children to divide the proportion allotted to their respective Parents again in equal Proportions to have & to hold to them my said named Children or their representatives as above said & to their Heirs & Assigns for ever.
In Witness whereof I have hereunto Set my Hand & Seal this twenty fifth Day of March in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven hundred and Seventy Eight

Signed Sealed and Published and declared by the above named Margaret Van Valkenburgh to be her last Will & Testament in the presence of us who have hereunto subscribed our names as Witnesses in Presence of the Testatrix
Inventory of the goods Chattels and Credits of Margaret Van Valkenburgh deceased Viz.
The preceeding is a true and just Inventory of the Goods and Chattels of Margaret Van Valkenburgh above named deceased as far as the same have been Produced to us and the Prices annexed to the respective articles are what we supposed to be the true value of them at the time of making this Inventory done at the request of Abrm Bloodgood Administrator of all and Singular the good Chattels and Credits of the Said deceased together with her will annexed at Albany the 13th April 1792 We having signed an Other inventory of the above
