A long-term research goal of mine is to continue to develop an archaeological perspective that is simultaneously global and local. I define modern-world archaeology as an archaeology of the post-Columbian world that plays special attention to large social forces such as colonialism, Eurocentrism, commodification, class, racialization, and modernity. My personal interest is in the trans-Atlantic world, but modern-world archaeology is applicable throughout the globe.
