Mammalogy Laboratory

Roland Kays
My research examines ecological and evolutionary questions about mammals, typically with a focus on carnivores. I seek out questions that are scientifically interesting but also have real-world relevance through educational or conservation value. Traditional techniques that are important to my research include animal trapping, snow tracking, specimen measurements, and tree climbing. I also am involved in using and developing new tools in the fields of genetics, remote cameras, and animal tracking. This work is diverse, and made possible through broad collaborations with other students and professionals.
