Robert S. Feranec :: Found a Fossil?

If you have a fossil and would like to donate it to the New York State Museum, or know where a fossil is located, call 518-474-5819.

What we know about ancient animals depends on having the specimens to study.  If you have a fossil, and would like to know what it is, please contact me.  Also, many of the fossils and fossil sites are discovered “accidentally” without a paleontologist present.  If you think you have found an important fossil or fossil site, please let me know.

It is important to remember that there is more information than just the bone itself.  If you see a bone in the ground it is best to leave it where it is, if possible, so that proper paleontological excavations can take place.
