Did you know that the New York State Museum cares for and studies over 15 million specimens, artifacts and works of art that reflect over 175 years of research in earth sciences, biology, and human and cultural history. Each year our exhibits and programs attract more than 750,000 visitors to upstate New York. With the help of our dedicated volunteers and interns, the museum provides a fun and educational atmosphere for our daily visitors. Won't you join our team?

The New York State Museum offers a variety of interesting and educational opportunities for volunteers and interns. Choose from assisting in research laboratories, clerical work, assisting in our interactive children's area we call discovery place, helping school children in our after school program or work with visitor services providing information and special programs to our museum visitors.

Whether you are retired, a professional, a student or just have a skill and time you would like to share, the New York State Museum will welcome you as a valued volunteer or offer an educational as well as exciting internship.
