Join us at the New York State Museum as we celebrate Earth Day with many hands-on activities and presentations designed to raise your conservation curiosity and grow your environmental skills. Learn the steps you can take to protect the earth. Join environmentalists, scientists, and nature lovers for hands-on, eco-friendly activities and demonstrations.

  • Make a pledge to conserve energy!
  • REDUCE, REUSE, RESPECT: Make creative art out of junk!
  • Meet Chris Swain, the guy who swam the entire length of the Hudson River! Bring in your used electronics (no larger than a computer monitor), and Chris will recycle them! Also, check out the documentary Swim for the River!
  • Sing Earth Day songs with storyteller and folksinger Bill Cliff!
  • Shake hands with Smokey Bear and find out what it takes to be a Forest Ranger!
  • LEAVE NO TRACE: Find out how to be an eco-camper!
  • Learn about the problems caused by invasive zebra mussels from Dan Molloy, Director of the NYS
    Museum’s Cambridge Field Research Laboratory!
  • Watch honey bees in their hives and learn why humans can’t live without them!
