Among the most endangered groups of animals on the planet are the freshwater mussels, yet their presence in our lakes and rivers often goes unnoticed. In this presentation, Freshwater Ecologist, Dr. Denise Mayer, will describe some of the fascinating characteristics of these mollusks that have supported their success and discuss recent Museum studies that are supporting the restoration and recovery of populations within New York State.
