Central New York Region History Day Seeks Student Projects
SYRACUSE, NY (January 18th, 2019)- The Onondaga Historical Association (OHA), Central New York Region History Day facilitators, is accepting projects for the competition on Saturday, March 9th, 2019 at OCM BOCES in Syracuse.
Students from grades 6th through 12th from Onondaga, Oswego, Madison, Oneida, and Corland counties are encourage to submit projects in one of five categories: exhibit, performance, paper, website, or documentary. Winners of this event will progress to the state competition at the New York Historical Association in Cooperstown, NY, with finalists advancing to the nationwide competition at the National Archives and Records Administration in Maryland. Submissions are due by February 15th.

Each year, more than half a million students nationwide participate by engaging in historical research projects. This year’s History Day topic is “Triumph & Tragedy” Students conduct primary and secondary research based upon this theme, evaluate their sources, analyze and interpret their discoveries, and present their findings on the day of the competition.
