Partnership with National Council of History Education Launched

Thanks to our donors, the Archives Partnership Trust received a $100,000 matching grant from The Robert David Lion Gardiner Foundation (RDLG) for Consider the Source Online: Teaching with Historical Records Project. This transformative statewide project brings together teachers, cultural institutions and content specialists to develop an online network of learning communities and access to new tools and resources created by educators, for educators. In addition, the Trust has been designated by the National Council for History Education to head a new state-level council for New York State.

The grant from the RDLG Foundation comes on the heels of the Trust's recent partnership with the National Council for History Education to form the New York Council for History Education (NYCHE). This partnership further enhances the Trust's ability to promote historical literacy by strengthening regional networks of educators, historians, and cultural organizations, as well as providing locally focused professional development and outreach activities. Chaired by The College of Saint Rose Professor, Kristi Fragnoli, Ed.D. and a team of educators, individuals from seven of the nine regions around New York State have already signed on; recruitment efforts are underway to identify members from Northern NY and the mid-Hudson region.
