Application Open for the Holland Society of New York's Junior Fellowship Award

This article originally appeared on the Holland Society of New York's website.
Commencing in September 2024 and concluding in August 2025, the Junior Fellowship is for a degree candidate who, at the time of application, has fulfilled all preliminary requirements for their terminal degree and are in the process of writing their dissertation.
In an effort to promote and support new research about New Netherland, the dissertation’s topic should be related to New Netherland, but does not need to involve the translation of text and records. The ideal junior fellowship candidate has an interesting or unexplored angle on the field of New Netherland studies and the legacy of New Netherland.
The successful candidate will be awarded a stipend of $20,000, paid throughout the term of their fellowship. During the candidate’s time as the Society’s Junior Fellow, they will contribute a short-form article to the Society’s journal, de Halve Maen, and a long-form article to the Society’s to-be-established Holland Society Papers journal. The candidate will also present a lecture on the candidate’s topic of research to Holland Society Members in-person at the Society’s New York Headquarters. Reasonable travel costs will be provided.
