Canal Gateway Visitor Center Construction Begun in Schuylerville

Officials joined together Friday morning to celebrate a key milestone at the site of the Champlain Canal Region Gateway Visitors Center.

The plan was to raise the first framing wall of the structure — which is still under construction — Friday morning.

Once completed, the center, a project of the Historic Hudson-Hoosic Rivers Partnership, will serve as both an information hub and host exhibits that relate to events of historical significance to the region.

Historic Hudson-Hoosic Rivers Partnership has worked closely with Saratoga, Washington and Rensselaer counties, the Timber Frame Guild, the National Parks Service, the New York State Canal Corp. and Locks to Lakes Passage to get the project to where it is now.  CONTINUE READING
