Exhibition at The Museum of Bronx History: A History of the Bronx Latino
Utilizing its photographic and research collections, The Bronx County Historical Society has installed its exhibition, A History of The Bronx Latino, at the Museum of Bronx History. Latinos are among the largest and fastest-growing ethnic groups in the borough since the mid-20th century. Although this statistic defines the Latino population in The Bronx today, there is historical data on early 19th century Bronx Latinos to be more fully explored.
This represents the latest offering in our ongoing series, The Bronx Latino History Project. To document and share the history and heritage of Bronx Latinos,The Bronx County Historical Society established The Bronx Latino History Project ten years ago. The program encompasses historical research, primary source collection, exhibition and related programming as well as production of ongoing bilingual translations of our museum tours and programs.
The Museum of Bronx History is conveniently located in north-central Bronx near Montefiore Medical Center, and accessible by public transit, including the D and #4 subway lines, bus lines #10, #16, #28, #30, #34, and MTA express buses #4 from Manhattan. The museum is open Saturdays 10AM-4PM, Sundays 1PM-5PM [group tours available during the week and on weekends by appointment, booked through our Education Department]. Admission is $5.00 general public and $3.00 - children, seniors, and students.
