Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History: 2021 State History Teachers of the Year

The Gilder Lehrman Institute is proud to announce the 2021 State History Teachers of the Year. This year's winners were drawn from our most competitive field ever with a record 8,510 nominations.
Since 2004, 855 exemplary American history teachers from elementary, middle, and high schools in all fifty states, Department of Defense schools, Washington DC, and US territories have received a History Teacher of the Year Award. This fall the ten finalists for the National History Teacher of the Year will be announced, with the national winner announced thereafter.
New York's winner of the 2021 State History Teachers of the Year is Andrew Savage from Brooklyn High School of the Arts. Congratulations!
