The New York Landmarks Conservancy Updates

We continue to hear many messages of hope and renewal as we see so many people perform daily acts of heroism and kindness. We continue to try and assist through our unique programs.
Tysen House
Before and after column collapse at the 1834 Judge Jacob Tysen House, Staten Island.
Historic Richmond Town began work to shore up the porch at the 1834 Judge Jacob Tysen House (pictured above) near Snug Harbor. The Staten Island non-profit reached out to us last week after a porch column collapsed. We sent them a $22,000 Emergency Preservation Grant last Thursday, half of the repair costs, only three days after they requested our help.
We are now speaking with The Italian Cultural Foundation at Casa Belvedere on Staten Island about a grant. They report serious structural issues and water damage at the 1908 individual landmark that houses the Foundation in Grymes Hill.
Olmsted House Update
Priority mortar work on the 17th-century foundation of Frederick Law Olmsted’s former home in Eltingville on Staten Island is finally complete. Staff from Fifty Three Restorations worked one at a time in order to complete the work in compliance with social distancing standards. All the priority work the Conservancy identified—and fundraised to pay for—is now finished.
