by
Office of State History

Students and their families and teachers from every region of the state will gather in Cooperstown on April 23rd to take part in New York State History Day.  This annual competition allows students to work individually or in groups on a historical project of their choosing in the following categories: paper (individual), documentary (group or individual), exhibit (group or individual) performance (group), or website (group or individual).  Projects are judged based on exacting criteria including historical accuracy, use of primary sources, and relation to the annual theme, which for 2018 is "Conflict and Compromise in History."  The highest scored projects in each category will have earned the right to compete in the National History Day competition held at the University of Maryland, College Park.  For more information on New York State History Day, please visit:  http://nyshistoryday.org/
