Decapoda

The decapoda or decapods (literally "ten-footed") are an order of crustaceans within the class Malacostraca, including many familiar groups, such as crayfish, lobsters, prawns and shrimp. Most decapods are scavengers. The New York State Museum's Decapoda Collection dates to the late 1890s and includes representatives of all marine and freshwater species found in New York.
